Joint Base Charleston
The Joint Base Charleston employs over 20,000 active and reserve members of the US Air Force and US Navy. It officially became a joint base on October 1, 2010 when the naval base merged with the air base, although the Air Force maintains command with its Air Mobility Command (AMC) unit. The facility also shares its runway with the Charleston International Airport.
